"My heart is overflowing when I think about ALL the donations that were donated to CIS for students at Robert F. Hunt Elementary School in Diana ISD. School Supply requests were rolling in before the supplies were. I was a little concerned. I began to realize that the need this year was going to be greater than I had ever experienced in the 17 years I have been with Communities in Schools of East Texas for R.H. Elementary School. Teachers were in their meetings, I was in my CIS office unpacking from the summer. The first donation came in, I was so happy to see the donor. We visited, I updated her on where everything "stood" for our school supplies. The next day another donor came in, same routine. We sat and visited. I thanked our donor. I shared more about our needs, shared our triumphs from the previous school year. I always enjoy updating any donor of how their particular donation was used to help better equip a student to be more successful.... sometimes these conversations can last for at least an hour. After that particular day, donations continued to arrive. I saw exact items that I knew we were in much need of. Every day I left school with a Grateful and happy heart. This school year, I met a NEW donor. His mother brought the first item, the long crayon display container filled with all different kind of school supplies. If you know me, then you know I just floated back to my office after seeing it. She brought more supplies in tubs, tubs and more tubs. I shared my CIS story with her. I asked her to tell her son to please come to the school house, I would really like to say Thank You in person and share with him how he will make a difference in a student's life this year. He came to the schoolhouse the next day! We had a great visit. By the way, this all happened because another seasoned donor knew he had all these items but didn't know where to take them. Thankfully this donor told him quickly that I could handle ALL the items he had!! Networking at it's finest!! Now, CIS and Robert F. Hunt Elem. have a brand new community member/donor for this school year. It is a joy and honor to work with teachers, helping them to have supplies for their classrooms. It is a blessing to help ease the burden for parents needing supplies for their child/children. I think the pictures show the generosity of our donors. One of my donors is a former CIS student of mine. He remembers how CIS helped him so he wants to help other students now. My heart is always so blessed when I see him each year donating!! I love my job!! I love, love to share with others what CIS is all about in this small rural community. Because of our donors, we are better equipped for '24 ~ '25 school year at Robert F. Hunt Elementary!!"
