Off To A Great Start!
School started for Robert F. Hunt Elementary students in New Diana ISD on 8-7-23 but Communities in Schools Site Coordinator, Nancy Essary began to work with a variety of donors in July.
Walnut Creek Baptist Church, Shady Grove Baptist Church, Diana United Fund and several anonymous donors have abundantly given to help R.F. Hunt Elementary students to be equipped for the '23 ~ '24 school year!
Donations included over 20 backpacks filled with grade level supplies, donation of an assortment of school supplies of most needed supplies for the year. Diana United Fund came in strong with their donation. DUF worked closely with Site Coordinator, Nancy Essary in choosing particular items that will help teachers with their supply needs to teach in the classroom.
Since Robert F. Hunt Elementary is going to a 4 day school week for the '23 ~ '24 school year, their days are longer. Their students will have a snack break each and every day. Their SNACK DONOR donated a variety of snacks for students who may not have a snack for the day. Even though this is a first time need, this donation will continue throughout the year by Communities in Schools securing snack donors throughout the year.
An upcoming donation will be the CIS/RFH weekend backpack program. It will roll out in the next couple of weeks with Graceton Church of Christ beginning their 13th year of working with CIS for R.F. Hunt Elementary students/families with food insecurities.
Ms. Essary really enjoyed working with past donors and meeting new donors for future needs for Robert F. Hunt Elementary.
